Jens Rausch

Durchforstungen

In his work, Jens Rausch reflects on the metaphorical and physical meaning of thinning landscapes and forests, both literally and figuratively, as a process of clearing and reduction. By means of his unique approach which involves applying materials from nature, triggering oxidative processes, using fire and then removing and thinning the resulting layers, Rausch seeks to explore the interactions between humans and nature. His works offer deep insights into the effects of human intervention in the environment and address the need to come to terms with our own place in the natural world. They challenge the viewer to venture beyond the act of thinning and to adopt a new perspective with regard to the relationship between humans and nature.
